LUCY WILLIAMS' FAVOURITE BEACHES

This month we sit down with the inimitable fashion icon Lucy Williams to discuss her favourite beaches

As a seasoned traveller, having just come back from her sixth trip this year alone (re-igniting her love of Mykonos), Lucy Williams is a professional at vacationing. Having explored some of the world's most incredible outposts for rest and relaxation, we sit down with her to discover what her top picks have been after all of these years, along with her favourite pieces to take on vacation with her.

As we start discussing her favourite spots for white (and in one case, pink) sands and palm trees, Lucy begins her journey over 6,000 miles away landing us in the Caribbean - Harbour Island, Bahamas to be specific. Famed as one of the world's most spectacularly unique beaches, Pink Sand Beach is aptly named, and as Lucy confirms for us, this visionary pleasure lives up to its name.

Pink Sands beach, Harbour Island

"I can confirm the sand here is actually pink, you can see it especially clearly when you’re in the water and the waves stir it up. I loved walking and down this long swathe of Caribbean beach. It’s beautiful with the most turquoise water but still has a wildness to it that I loved. Don’t miss the lobster quesadillas and goombay smash at Sip Sip."

Bringing us back into Europe, Lucy would remiss not to include one of Greece's many white sand beaches. As such, we head straight to the breathtaking waters of the Ionian Islands.

Peligoni Club, Zakinthos

"Not a beach per se as it’s a beach club built onto the rocks with a floating pontoon to swim out to. But the water here is probably the best I’ve ever swum in. So clear and azure blue, I swear this is the secret to a long life! I pretty much turned into a mermaid while here and lived between the water and the pontoon."

In the same breath, Mexico has become incredibly well-known for its expansive selection of beaches. For Lucy, Cuixmala takes the number one spot.

Cuixmala, Mexico

"Luxury hotel (although hotel doesn’t really do this enormous nature reserve and architectural feat justice) Cuixmala in Mexico has three private beaches and I really couldn’t choose a favourite. The main beach is super long and dramatic but not swimmable thanks to currents and crocs (yes really) while the others are made for dipping in and out of the water and you often have the whole beach to yourself with only swooping pelicans for company."

Finally, we finish our trip back in the Caribbean, where Lucy has noted this retreat in Bequia as one of her more enjoyable, and for good reason.

Princess Margaret beach, Bequia

"Picture-perfect desert island beach complete with fresh coconuts, rum shacks and friendly beach dogs who come and chill with you in the shade. Most people tend to visit Bequia by boat so we had the whole beach almost to ourselves. Walk round to the right and follow the winding boardwalk round the rocks to find the best Jerk fish and old, pastel pink clapboard houses or head over the hill to the left for a cold beer at a local beach joint. This is the the Caribbean at its best."
