1. Bring Flowers Into Your Space
"When I'm working from home there's one thing I always have to have on my desk, or around me as I curl up in a chair - and that's flowers. It doesn't have to be a generous bouquet (although that's always fabulous!) It can be a collection of posies in bud vases or flowers picked from my country garden in Petworth, displayed in a fabulous vase or an upcycled container such as a jam jar or an empty olive oil can.
Bringing flowers inside does more than make your working environment smell fragrant and look pretty: they remind me to be grateful for the beauty of the changing seasons and the natural world."
2. Introduce Fragrance
"My favourite scented flowers at the moment are hyancinths, but I also like to use candles and diffusers to keep my work-space beautifully scented. I particularly love Diptyque & True Grace candles - nothing improves my mood like a beautifully fragranced room."
3. Spend Time With Your Dogs
"I'm lucky enough to enjoy the company of four beautiful Wild at Heart Foundation rescue dogs when I'm working from home. Rather than finding them a distraction, their energy inspires me! They also help to ground me and remember what is most important in life - love & compassion. If you don't have any pets, try to visit a friend who does, or offer to help out with a neighbour's pets."
4. Take A Break Outside To Appreciate Nature
"I like to base myself in my Sussex home for much of the time, being surrounded by nature always inspires my creativity and gratitude. Even if you can't leave the city, try to escape outdoors for at least an hour each day and find somewhere that has green space, fresh air and nature.
Observing the change in season is not only important for florists & gardeners, I think it is important for everyone to notice the life in our natural surroundings - we should never take that for granted."
After leaving university, Nikki went on to establish a career in advertising. Whilst helping her friends with their wedding flowers, she discovered a passion for floristry and shortly after applied to be an apprentice for a South London florist before setting up her own small studio in Southwark. In 1994, Nikki launched her first London-based florist, Wild at Heart, in Notting Hill and is the resident florist flanking the entrance of the iconic Liberty London.

Nikki's success with Wild at Heart, and her natural compassion, made her want to give something back. As a lifelong dog-lover, growing up with dogs as a child and now having rescue dogs of her own, Nikki has compelled to create an organisation which addressed the severity, scale and urgency of the global stray dog crisis, currently estimated at around 600 million.
