WINTER BLUES: OUR SPA EDIT

Beat the winter blues with an escape to one of the best spa retreats around the world. Designers Lauren and Poppy share their favourite spas and whats in their weekend bag.

Daylesford Haybarn Spa, Cotswolds – Lauren’s

“My favourite spa in the UK is Daylesford Haybarn Spa for the best treatments – their de-stress massage is a combination of meridian and Swedish massage and reflexology with leg massages. Highly recommend. I went the weekend before I got married last Summer and it was wonderful. The Bamford products they use are sensational and full of essential oils.”

"For my winter spa weekend I’ld definitely pack my plumping mask and night oil - my skin dries out in the winter so I love to plump it up with masks and oils! A huge cosy jumper for walks between treatments and a pair of leggings and a tee for some yoga, they have an amazing class once a day. I throw on the Asceno Jersey travel set to relax in, and always take my striped silk pyjamas for lazy mornings. My Asceno eye mask, ear plugs and lavender drops go everywhere to help me sleep in new places."

Zighy Bay, Six Senses, Oman - Poppy's

The most incredible spa I was lucky enough to visit is Zighy Bay, Six Senses Spa in Oman. I have not been to that many spas, but this one is insane, and I would love to go back! Nestled between the brick red mountains, the totally remote resort is miles from anywhere! The most tranquil place and the perfect escape from London - with a relatively short night flight by 10am you can be arriving and be ready relax. The signature six senses massage at the spa is the best, as well as the complimentary early morning yoga classes - a must!

'My packing for this weekend is simple, Asceno Rio Arrow long shirt dresses, bikinis, a white linen shirt from Asceno and Levi denim shorts. Plenty of suncream and a Sensi Studio panama hat, oh and a good book. For the night flight I'll wear the Asceno track pant and sleep t with a big cosy cashmere jumper.'

We've picked out two Spas on our big time wish list!

Vana Malsi Estate – Uttarakhand, India

Vana, meaning forest, has been dubbed as the world’s best life changing retreat. At the foot of the Indian Himalayas, they say the 21-acre retreat focuses on inner nourishing with its personal consultations and innumerable treatments. While staying guest are encouraged to look within' this sounds like our vibe and the place to go for total clean-lined serenity.

Kamalaya – Koh Samui, Thailand

This place looks like heaven! Remote and otherworldly. We are keen to go and switch off in this 'rainforest wonderland, where the stream of water and the song of birds accompany the goji berries, fresh fruit and muesli in the morning.' Run by Married duo Karina and John, Chinese medicine practitioner and Yogi monk, they apparently will guide you towards your ideal yoga, fitness or meditation sessions. YES PLEASE!
